Provenance is the product

22 August 2026 · VREVOIL

Any system can store an assertion. Few can tell you where it came from, who accepted it, when it became authoritative, and what it replaced.

Evidence, not vibes

In VREVOIL, a claim, assumption or decision carries links to the sources that support it: the captured document, the meeting note, the message, the record. That link is not decoration — it is what makes the position auditable months later, when the people who formed it have moved on.

Why review matters more than extraction

Extraction is cheap. Assistants can propose structure from any body of text. The expensive, valuable part is the governed act of a human accepting a proposal — and the record that they did.

  • Proposals are visible before they take effect.
  • Each item is accepted or rejected individually.
  • Every acceptance is written to an append-only trail.

Governance as retrieval confidence

The practical payoff is confidence at the point of use. When someone retrieves a position, they can see its evidence, its status and its history, so they can act on it rather than re-verify it from scratch.

Governed. Retrievable. Operational — in that order.
